Stuff the Cruiser is Back on August 23rd!

On Saturday August 23rd OPP Auxiliary Officers will be at Peacock’s Foodland to receive donations for the Tobermory Food Bank.  They will be there with a Cruiser from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  The Stuff the Cruiser Event happens twice a year.  At Christmas which helps so much stock Foodbank Shelves for the Season and coming Winter.  The August Event comes at a time when children are returning to School, and well-stocked Foodbank shelves are needed.

All donations are appreciated, but there are some grocery items that are most in demand.

  • Peanut butter
  • Pasta Sauce
  • Juice Boxes
  • Individual Pudding and Fruit Cups
  • Canned Spaghetti
  • Canned Fruit and Vegetables
  • Dish and Laundry Detergent
  • Paper Towel
  • Toilet tissue

The OPP Auxiliary Officers have held this event for some years now. They give up a Saturday to stand outside of Peacock’s to receive the donations and then deliver them to the Tobermory Food Bank.  Their dedication and generosity is so very much appreciated by the Food Bank and in turn our clients. And many thanks to Peacock’s for hosting the Event.  If you have been considering donating to the Tobermory Food Bank, please mark Saturday August 23rd in your calendars.

We have had a busy summer as we maintain our regular hours Tuesdays 1-3 p.m. at the Meeting Place.  As so often said Food Insecurity does not take a summer vacation. We are so fortunate to have committed volunteers that are willing to work year round.  And are also fortunate that donations still come our way during the summer months.

We have a Donation Box for grocery items at the Tobermory Post Office and appreciate that Gabe keeps an eye on it for us.  If you are going to the very popular Bingo put on by the Tobermory Legion Auxiliary Wednesday nights, you can donate grocery items at the Donation Box at the Community Centre.  The Box is located in the Lobby and you can donate any time the Community Centre is open.

To make a cash donation you can e-transfer to tobermoryfoodbank@gmail.com and in the message section include your name and mailing address so a tax receipt can be issued to you. Tax receipts are issued for cash donations $20 and over.  You can also mail a cheque to Tobermory Food Bank, P.O. Box 144 Tobermory, Ontario N0H 2R0.  For more information, please visit our website tobermoryfoodbank.ca or call Linda at 519-596-2333.
